Rehearsal Dinner

July 07, 2018

When our son was to be married in the summer of 2015, it was our job to host the wedding rehearsal dinner.  The wedding was at a remote location (Bridal Veil Lakes - see it here.) We didn't have much of a selection of places to have the dinner, so we decided to do it all ourselves.  We rented a former locktender home in Cascade Locks, Oregon.  This beautiful historic building was constructed in 1904, and housed the early supervisors of the locks and canal which provided river boats safe passage around the famous Cascade Rapids.  It was the perfect place!

There is no place on earth more beautiful than the Columbia River Gorge on a beautiful, sunny July afternoon!

We'd designed invitations to send out prior to the occasion.  It was great fun coming up with ideas for a woodland theme!

We picked up assorted white plates at the Dollar Tree for our dinner.  Beverages were served in mason jars, and we made up the floral displays from flowers and greenery grown at home.

We created centerpieces from succulents and birch logs.  Pine cones were gathered in Eastern Washington earlier in the year to use for decor and on the cake too.

It was so fun decorating our own little restaurant-for-the-day! We ended up hosting over 40 people.

We first designed these mini Twix bar wrappers for this wedding rehearsal dinner.  We can customize them with your bride and groom's names here in our shop!  (See matching water bottle labels, below, also available in our shop here.)

For our meal, we served fresh sockeye salmon and stuffed chicken breasts.

We had three trays of salmon and 2 trays of chicken.

We also served salads, and Grandma's much-requested delicious deviled eggs!

We had baked potatoes, homegrown green beans with bacon crumbles, and fresh summer squash from our garden.

Daughter, Kari made the gorgeous cake! It was decorated with ferns, succulents, and mini pine cones, and was displayed on a fir tree round.

Our wedding rehearsal dinner was so fun to host, and was a big success!  It was great having the whole building to ourselves to relax and visit before the big day!

Wishing our son and daughter-in-law a happy 3rd anniversary in a couple of weeks!
